Web Design: Our Process & Timeline

Creating a website is a bit like building a house. You need a solid plan, the right tools, and a clear timeline.

Here’s a quick guide to our website creation process, designed to get us from concept to launch smoothly and efficiently.

Step 1: What Are We Building

We’ve done this a few times before, so we don’t need to ask you hundreds of questions! 🙂 As soon as you tell us what your business does, we already have a good idea of what you need.

But there will be a few questions up front. If you’re a plumber we need to know if you’re doing residential, commercial or both. What services you provide – drainage, gas fitting, central heating? What areas do you serve – do you have multiple branches etc? These insights are crucial for crafting a website that truly represents your business.

Some quick answers here get us straight into Step 2.

Step 2: Crafting the Blueprint (1-3 Days)

We start by sketching a sitemap. Essentially the blueprint of your website. This visual guide helps us figure out what pages we need and how they’ll connect, ensuring your site is easy for visitors to navigate.

And that your site is set up well for SEO. So Google can you send you all the different types of customers relevant to your business.

Step 3: Picking the Paint (3-5 Days)

Next, we select colors and fonts that match your brand’s vibe. It’s amazing how much personality and energy the right color scheme and typography can add to your site. This step sets the visual tone for everything that follows.

Step 4: Laying the Foundations (5-7 Days)

Here, we begin the actual design, starting with the basics: the Header, Footer, Home Page, and an Internal Page. This phase is all about refining the look and feel, ensuring the design perfectly captures your business.

Step 5: Framing the Rooms (Varies)

Content is the heart of your site. Whether you’re providing it, just rough drafting it, or we’re collaborating with a writer, getting the content right is key. Delays in content can push back the timeline, so promptness is essential. But we’ll guide you through the process.

Step 6: Final Fit-Out (7-14 Days)

With the design set and content ready, we build out the rest of your site. This phase is where the magic happens, turning all the individual elements into a cohesive, functional website.

Step 7: The Building Inspector Check (3 Days)

Before we go live, your site undergoes a thorough check against a long list (over 50 items to double check). This ensures everything works perfectly on different devices and that your site is ready for both Google and real people.

Step 8: Launch Day (1 Day)

It’s go-time! Launching your site only takes about an hour, but we’ll wait 24 hours before announcing anything. This gives time for the new site to propagate across the internet, ensuring a smooth transition for all your visitors.

Step 9: Fine-Tuning (30 Days Post-Launch)

After launch, we enter a 30-day grace period for testing and debugging. It’s normal to find the odd thing to tweak once the site is live, and this period allows us to make those adjustments without any extra cost.
